Te Huringa – The Transformation Begins!

Join us as we reflect on the incredible effort of our kura whaanau and aakonga during our first working bee at Tuhimata Road. This marks the beginning of our transition from Franklin Road to our new home – Te Taamatatanga o Pukekohekohe. In this post, we capture the energy, teamwork, and progress made, celebrate the transformation underway, and outline what’s coming next as we prepare our kura for its official opening.

Te Huringa – The Transformation Begins!

What a day! Today marked a powerful milestone in our haerenga as we began the transition of our kura from Franklin Road to our new home at Tuhimata Road – the future site of Te Taamatatanga o Pukekohekohe.

As the photos show, our whaanau and aakonga turned up, rolled up their sleeves, and got stuck into the mahi. From shifting gear, clearing spaces, lawn mowing, weeding, and water-blasting – the wairua of kotahitanga was strong. What a transformation already!

We accomplished more than we expected – a true testament of kotahitanga, to the power of collective mahi. Our heartfelt thanks to every single person who showed up and contributed today. Your time, your energy, your aroha – it all matters. Ngaa mihi nui e te whaanau, e ngaa aakonga, teenei te mihi maioha ki a koutou katoa.

Next steps:

  • A deep clean crew will be on site early next week to bring a sparkle to our offices and classrooms.

  • We're also expecting a waterblasting crew to come through to freshen up the buildings.

  • Next weekend, we’ll continue our outdoor tidy-up – a perfect time to begin whakakaahu ngaa ruuma (setting up classrooms) in preparation for our kura opening!

Watch this space for more updates as we prepare to welcome our tamariki and community to their new whare ako.

He kura kua whakatookia, hei hua moo ngaa uri whakatipu.
